1st Annual Fall Foliage Trip – 2012

What was supposed to be a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday trip to Snowmass turned into a 26 hour trip as we didn’t have warm enough sleeping bags to handle the 30 degree weather on Friday night. Despite getting very little sleep, we packed up Saturday morning and decided to go with the flow and ended up visiting Snowmass for the hot air balloon, Maroon Bells, and decided we would take the Independence Pass (scenic byway) home. We’ve decided we want to do this annually and definitely want to hit up some other hot fall spots such as Telluride, Durango, Ouray, etc…

Aaron and the tripod have a wonderful relationship as the two worked together to take all these fabulous photos! Good thing for the timer setting on the camera.

1 Year

Wow! Reminiscing back to Labor Day Weekend of last year. We were still working our butts off doing house renovations. Here’s the link: https://rosefamilycues.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/labor-day-weekend-truly-laborous/

We love our home sweet home. Still working on getting more decorations up around the interior of the house. I’ll admit, I’m super picky about decorations which is probably why it’s taking this long. We continue to do house projects when we can. Aaron’s been working on the irrigation (sprinkler) system. He’s figured it all out on his own and has saved us thousands of dollars we would have had to pay for a professional to do it. We just finished sanding down and re-staining all the window sills and are in process of putting them back. We need to re-caulk all of them. We cut down a dead tree in the backyard. We cut down the neighbors vine that was overgrown and taking up a good portion of our front lawn. Wow! What a huge difference it makes as the front lawn looks bigger. We’re also hoping to work on our front lawn and landscaping once the cooler weather comes. The entire lawn needs to be redone. When we purchased the house, the grass was brown and dried out due to lack of care. We tried to bring the grass back to life with no luck.

I begin my 2nd class tomorrow and hopefully start working this week so it may be a while before one of us blogs again. May you all have a wonderful end of summer and beginning of fall.

Labor Day Weekend – 2012

Yippee! We got out of the house today. I wasn’t going to let Aaron stay in all day and do work.

We ended up taking the bikes to Chatfield State Park. GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS! The photos don’t do justice. We’ll be going back and they even have a campsite. Perfect for when we want to do a getaway but don’t want to travel too far from home. After the bike ride, we changed into our bathing suits and went for a quick dip in the lake before heading home. Ahhh, so refreshing! This is the last weekend for people to swim at swim beaches here in Colorado.

Stopped at C&B Potts on the way home. We’ve heard so many good things about this restaurant/brewery. Delicious food!
