June/July 2012 Update

Hello there! Time flies! It feels like I just finished my first year of classes last week but, nope, we’re both gearing up to start a new school/academic year. It’s been such a great summer. We’ve been fortunate to be able to do what we have done this summer. Yet, it always feels like we have so much we want to do. Aaron will be back in his new building (his program moves to a new school this year) in a couple of weeks. I start classes again on August 1st. I’m still unsure of where I’ll be working this year. I’ve been busy taking an online class this summer. Wanted to knock out one more class while I could.

Beginning of June: Aaron’s dad is here for a few days. We had a blast! We never get sick of going up Pikes Peak (yummy donuts!), cruising through Garden of the Gods, etc….

ImageCelebrating our 2nd year anniversary. We tend to go low-key as we love the time together. We chose to spend the day in Boulder. Hiked up to the Royal Arch, visited a beer brewery, and ended the day with some delicious Beau Jo’s mountain high pizza.

ImageWe got to visit my dad at his new diggs in New Hampshire. Yes, if you remember my photo with Lisa and Dad a while back, Lisa was here to help Dad relocate from Arizona to NH. I felt fortunate to help him hang up photos of his daughters around the living room. Brought back so many memories.

ImageImageImageImageImageCamp. I hadn’t been to camp in years and years. This was the summer I decided I was going to take my hubby to camp. Period. I was so grateful we had the opportunity to come and spend the day with my mom celebrating her birthday. It had been so many years since I’d been to Vermont and she and Mary took Aaron and I out to see some caves and hike to Sterling Pond. I can’t even describe how peaceful camp is. It’s always so good to see family when I can. Lisa and Maddie made the trip from Syracuse to VT as well for the weekend. I even swam from the beach to camp with Lisa. Great workout. We were missing Michelle, our bro-in-law Paul, and my other niece Alexis. Oh, and can’t forget dog-phew, Hitch. Our camera died in the middle of the week, so someone else has photos of us with my aunts and cousins. Anyone know who took those as I don’t remember who did? 🙂

Image4th of July. We gathered a group of friends and went to Rock Bottom then hit up Broomfield Park for some fireworks. Daisy (who I’m holding hands with) is the sweetest girl. I can’t wait until Aaron and I have a kid of our own to share holidays with. Behind us is my sweetest girl friend, Seda and her boyfriend who is also a golfer. 🙂 We just got back from his golf tournament in Wyoming yesterday.

Aaron’s done a great job around the house this summer. I can’t say the same for me. My goal was to paint the doors and trim as they desperately need fresh paint. I think after all the painting I had to do last fall has left me “retired” from painting. I really need to snap out of retirement and get back to it. Maybe when the temperatures cool down a bit. Aaron’s done a great job with his “mancave”, aka his garage. He has redesigned it so we can now park both vehicles in the garage in the winter time. He has also been working hard on our irrigation system which I can’t believe passed inspection because the minute we used it, there were holes in the pipes everywhere. Oy! While we were in New Hampshire/VT, we were somewhat away from a heat wave in Colorado. However, when we returned, we really needed our swamp cooler (evaporative cooler system instead of A/C) to work. After a week of googling how to make it work, I discovered a page that helped us realize we needed to have water circulating (yes, we’re definitely from the East coast) in order for the swamp cooler to work. Aaron put in countless hours trying to figure out how to make the water pump up to the cooler on the roof, etc… So now, we are able to sleep better at night, etc… Thank goodness for a handyman around here!

Hope you’re all having a great summer.

XOXOXOXOXO
