And I bring you some Friday Humor!

It’s no longer easy to identify Aaron walking down the aisle of Walmart. A bouncing afro with curls spilling out in every direction in line with his swift walking movements made it so easy to pick him out among twenty-ish other customers walking the aisle. So much easier than dealing with delayed text messages informing each other where we are.

I’ve been nagging my dear husband to get his hair trimmed, at the least, for weeks. Good enough, last night was THE night he and I walked into Fantastic Sam’s with a coupon (you’re looking at the newest coupon queen) in tow. The usual yada, what do you want to do, yada talk takes place. Aaron’s response was a very firm one as he always knows what he wants to do. I’m always the indecisive one.

Scene 1:
Snip, snip, snip… bzzzz…bzzzzz..bzzzzz
Hairdresser: You like the length?
AvR: *waves to M-B who’s occupied by her Blackberry* “You like the length?”
Me: “Oh what? Oh, yeah.. looks great!” (looks back down to Blackberry and back up to make sure I didn’t miss out on anything)
AvR: “Shave the sideburns”
Hairdresser: (looks at me with a smile) “You ready for it?”
M-B: “No, but that’s ok” (chuckling and thinking to myself, thank goodness he still has the goatee)
bzzz.bzzzz.bzzz.bzzzzz

Scene 2:
M-B drops AvR off at home, then goes back out to run errands.
Driving from mall to Target, sitting at a red light, I check my blackberry. He sends me a picture. A one-sided conversation then begins in the Honda, “Noooooo! Why did he shave his goatee??!! No sideburns, no goatee??” *Pauses to think* With a slightly broken heart, I arrive home and walk up to find him greeting me at the door with a kiss. My head drops and I cue “Why? Why?”. Minutes later, I walk up to him and say “Now, I know how you feel when I go and chop off my hair when you want me to keep it long.” Then and there, we were able to laugh and say “that’s life”!

Lesson learned. Regardless, I still love him. After all, I married him for his heart not his looks. Awww…. 😀

P.S. I’m secretly (oh, maybe it’s not so much a secret) hoping the goatee and sideburns grow back within a week or so. Where are those razors after all and what’s a good hiding place? 🙂
