Never Ending Packing

I hope we only have to move one more time after this. Preferably to a house we plan to live in for the next 30+ years because maybe by then I will have worked up the energy to want to pack/unpack again.

The husband and I did attempt in packing together as a couple before he moved, but after a couple hours and some bickering here and there it was best for each of us to pack on our own. I have a certain way I like to pack, so does he. I don’t like to save every little thing. I love to toss things or give them away if I don’t use them in the last 6 months to a year. Aaron, on the other hand, likes to save lots of things.

Neither way is the correct or incorrect way. I did at one point chuckle when Aaron pulled out a train ticket he had tucked away in his wallet for a good while that came in handy when he went to DC a while back. At that point, I had to admit “saving everything isn’t so bad after all.” 🙂

I need to find the strength to make it through the next three weeks in finishing up this packing and cleaning this apartment from top to bottom without going insane. Maybe I already have and I’m just pretending I haven’t.

Husband and Wife both reporting to work – in different states

Today marks the first day Aaron reports to his full time Teacher of the Deaf job. He’ll be doing some training this week.

He’s left me very anxious and so ready to move to Colorado after all the fun activities he’s done this week. I bet once the Roses are reunited in Colorado, we will do more activities in a range of two months than we did in the entire 3 1/2 years of living in Chicago. 🙂  City life is something I’m ready to leave behind but it brought me a ton of good memories. I am forever grateful I gave myself this experience in life. I can only grasp onto the experience and move forward.

Best of luck to Aaron!!

Aaron beginning his trip to Denver

Aaron has officially left the apartment complex that housed us both for the last 3 years. Great memories here. The wife is around trying to stay sane.  A new beginning begins…

UPDATE: It is Monday morning, 7:35 a.m. CST. Aaron has been driving since noon yesterday with catnaps here and there and he is in Colorado right now, but I think he has about another hour or two before he reaches the final destination. So he’s now in MST time, which is two hours behind all the Eastern folks and one hour behind me.

Second Update: I just received a text that totally made my day. Aaron has arrived in Lone Tree. He’s just looking for the house now. Thank you all for the well wishes. 🙂

Last week in Chicago for AVR

So it’s the Monday before I set out for Denver, CO and begin a new chapter in our life as the Roses. I spent a few days in DC working on CLEAR, a NCSA program for adult deaf cuers, and met with a few cuers in the area. Unfortunately I didn’t realize there was a Cues on Tap in Fairfax Saturday night, but alas airfare was cheaper on Saturday than Sunday. At least I’ll be back in less than a month for CLEAR. We’ll have another Cues on Tap August 7 in Bethesda, MD so stay tuned for details.

Now what will this week entail? New mufflers, oil changes, packing, and most important of all, quality time with my lovely wife. On top of all this I still have much work to do for the NCSA. MB and I were trying to think of what we could do on her day off this week. Water park in Wisconsin Dells? Bicycle downtown? Museums? We have an Entertainment book with coupons so we perused through that, but still no decision. Perhaps we should have our own tv show on network television announcing what we shall do. All the proceeds would go to the NCSA and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society!

Speaking of whales, if you haven’t been watching Whale Wars, I suggest you do so next Friday night on the Animal Planet channel since we’ll see the true nature of the Japanese whaling fleet. If I was a single man and had no ties, I’d volunteer in a heart beat for campaigns against the corporate terrorists on behalf of endangered wildlife. But alas life gets in the way, ya know?

Enough of that eco-oriented rant now. Time for me to finish this coffee and figure out what I want for breakfast. Bacon or ham? Tough decisions!

Celebrating a Day Early

Happy 4th of July to all of you! We spent yesterday, Saturday, celebrating the 4th of July as the next town over (Oak Brook) scheduled their fireworks for last night. Tonight we’ll be watching Oakbrook Terrace’s fireworks right from our balcony.

Yesterday started out with me taking an early run and getting caffeinated through coffee. Then as soon as our pool opened, we went to soak up some sun rays and swim. We ended up grilling some yummy steak/chicken with the sweetest California strawberries I have ever tasted. As early evening came, we decided to go out for some grub and drive around to see how we could avoid paying a $10.00 parking fee to see fireworks. We figured it out, so rushed home (safely) to get a blanket, beer, books, camera and ourselves and took off to secure a great location for the fireworks. Turned out we chose a great place despite being covered in ashes afterwards from being too close to the fireworks.

How are each of you spending your 4th? Hope it’s a happy and safe one! For those who have tomorrow off, enjoy it to the max!
