Denver vs. Chicago

Lots of people have been asking if we’re enjoying Colorado and my answer every time is “I love, love CO. I hope we’re here permanently.” My answer then prompts the “why” question.

Let’s be real here. I’m a country girl at heart and always will be. City life was a great experience for me/us, but I never felt 100% in my element while living in the suburbs of Chicago. Both Aaron and I couldn’t see ourselves settling in that area and raising a family there if we have one.

After a couple of months of living in Denver, I’m ready to lay out the pros of each city.

Denver
• More distance between traffic lights
• Groceries/gas are cheaper and reasonably priced
• Sun almost every day with beyond gorgeous sunrises/sunsets
• Way more free entertainment/events provided
• Outdoorsy life close by where you don’t have to drive 3-5 hours just to get to a hill
• Pace of life here rocks – very laid back.
• Very few tolls
• High altitude has allowed both of us to lose weight quickly

Chicago
• More rainy days
• Airport(s) within closer distance to apartment, and closer to family/friends who reside on the East coast
• Met some wonderful friends
• Holds many memories of Aaron and my first 3 years in our relationship including a wedding on the Navy Pier

Denver – We love you and you love us right back! It’s a win-win situation. I’ve also been receiving lots of comments that through photos, we look much happier. That’s how we feel and I’m glad our photos reflect that. I may not be in the best situation job-wise, but I’m definitely living a much healthier life while my dear husband has been working hard, yet loving his job at the same time.
